It all is very overwhelming, if you allow it to be! I often think "what can I do?" I don't have the finances to buy every orphan on the street (although that's what I wish I could do!). There are all sorts of ideas that go through my head of how I can save the world....and I get overwhelmed. But, you're right, we do have a responsibility and the issues go MUCH deeper than these children (and adults) not having a bed or food to eat everyday. The real issue is their hearts and their need for Christ. When I become overwhelmed with all of this and wanting to do SOMETHING but nothing seems adequate, I pray. PRAYER...something we often forget, but the only thing that is really going to make a difference in these people's lives (I'm not saying we shouldn't try to meet physical needs...we SHOULD)...but we often forget the power of prayer. I've tried to make it a practice to pray as soon as I read about people like this. It immediately gives me the peace I need, that even though I CAN'T do it all, God can. He is in control, he LOVES this little girl and millions like her, and IF He allows, He can use me or you to affect their lives. But, I pray that HE places people who love him in their lives to show them that love and help them in whatever way they can. I pray that it could be me, I would LOVE that....but so far He hasn't chosen to send me overseas or allow me to adopt...so I pray and will keep praying.
